Another group of French Indians emerged from the woods delaying the British Grenadiers deployed at the end of the British column. Repeated Charges by the Natives saw them counting coup and collecting many scalps as they decimated the ranks of the British Grenadiers in fierce fighting at the banks of the River.

While One Indian Unit was broken and the Couer de Bois with rifles did little to contribute to the French victory. The French Commander was gracious in vctory as he allowed The British Commander to march out with his remaining forces. Minus the supply train, 4 guns and the supplies already in the Blockhouse. Rumor has it the British Commander privately promised to return in the Fall to defend his honor and avenge this defeat.) it was an excellent game of Sword in Forest well played by both sides
